Wheat production is expected to hit highs this year not seen since 2017, and that could mean more export opportunities.
The North Dakota Crop Tour found spring wheat should yield 54.5 bushels per acre this year in the state, which is up 15 percent from last year. Total wheat production is forecast at just above 2 billion bushels, making it the largest crop since 2017.
Growers, however, are still facing low farm gate prices, but exports are forecast at 825 million bushels and could mean more global competition.
