How To Make A Mint Julep

NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) The mint julep has been the traditional beverage of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby since the 1930s. Each year, approximately 120,000 mint juleps are served over the two-day period of Kentucky’s most iconic event.

With the 143rd Run for the Roses just three days away, we couldn’t help but dive head first into one of the southern traditions that American’s celebrate in accordance with the first Saturday in May.

Using the award winning Kentucky distilled Town Branch Bourbon, this mint julep will rival those served between the Twin Spires.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1.5 oz. of simple syrup
  • Mint leaves
  • Crushed ice
  • 2 oz. of Town Branch Bourbon
