Joey+Rory’s album Hymns won Grammy gold last night in the Best Roots Gospel Album category. Rory Feek was there to accept the award on his late wife’s behalf.
“She sang her vocals in hotel rooms while she did chemo and radiation and it finally came out a year ago, almost exactly,” Feek said during the pre-telecast awards.
The country duo were Grammy nominees last year, but did not win. Before Joey passed away from cancer in March of 2016, she made her husband promise to attend the show if they were ever nominated again.
