California Governor bans the sale of gas powered cars by 2035

There is a lot of reaction this morning to a controversial executive order signed by California Governor Gavin Newsom.

He says that the Golden State will ban new sales of gasoline powered cars by 2035. He claims this will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 35 percent. The order does not ban people from owning gas fueled vehicles or keep them from selling them on the used market.

However, this could effectively end the sales of new internal combustion engines.

Chairman of California Advanced Biofuels Alliance,Tyson Keever says an electric-only future is not a science-based solution.

“Through biodiesel, renewable diesel, and numerous other home-grown sources, the Low Carbon Fuel Standard Program reduced 14.6 million tons of carbon emission in 2019 alone, with room for diverse growth well into the future,” he said.
