Wet conditions are causing a big hindrance to many producers in Arkansas

Heavy rain continues in western Arkansas. The wet weather is narrowing the planting window for cotton growers, and hay and forage producers will have to wait until the mud dries to start fertilizing.

University of Arkansas Extension Agronomist, Jarrod Hardke speaks with RFD-TV’s own Janet Adkison on current conditions, what changes might come from this rain, and if there are any damages to the crops so far.

“At this point, we are finally getting toward the back end of our planting window for most crops. We have fought our way toward reasonable planting progress...finally as of this week for a lot of crops, catching up to our five-year planting progress average, but keep in mind, most of that catch-up has happened just relatively recently...” according to Hardke.
