We have heard a lot lately about animal activists disrupting agriculture production. Law enforcement has some advice for dealing with these situations on your farm.
A California assistant sheriff took part in a conversation with the Animal Ag Alliance. He says that it is important to have a plan in place for any protests that might happen, as well as having secure fencing with clear “No Trespassing” signs.
“I understand that farmers and ranchers a lot of times are not really in a hurry to call for help, but in these instances, as soon as you see them coming, call us for help because what it does is, it gives us time to get there and prepare to get the proper resources in place... they can show up quickly. They get large transport buses to get a lot of people there in a short amount of time,” assistant sheriff James Naugle says.
He goes on to note that having dogs, even friendly ones, can also be an effective deterrent.
