The Food and Drug Administration continues to monitor cases of High Path Avian Flu in poultry and cattle.
They recently tested samples and it is showing fragments of the virus in pasteurized milk, indicating the virus has spread across more dairy herds than originally discovered, according to DTN.
They released a statement yesterday explaining their findings “do not represent actual virus that may be a risk to consumers.”
Their statement also stresses that the pasteurization process should eliminate pathogens to the point where consumers are not at risk.
“While milk is pasteurized, not sterilized, this process has helped ensure the health of the American public for more than 100 years by inactivating infectious agents.”
