Flock of 240K chickens owned by Tyson Foods in KY tested positive for HPAI

We have an update on the confirmation of avian influenza in a commercial flock in Kentucky.

Government officials now say that it is at a Tyson Foods farm, where nearly a quarter of a million chickens are raised. This update widens the threat to the poultry industry and triggers more restrictions on exports.

China is now limiting imports from Kentucky, and last week, Asian buyers limited purchases from Indiana due to a similar outbreak.

Tyson Foods says that it is working with authorities to prevent the spread. The company says that the outbreak should not lower overall chicken production because thousands of farms raise birds for Tyson.
