Consumers remain skeptical of gene edited products

Gene editing (GE) has continued to develop over the years and has now entered into the grocery store. The Farm Foundation is now looking into consumer response and attitude to gene edited produce.

U.S. customers are willing to buy GE products if they understand the benefits of it, according to Dr. Vincenzina Caputo from Michigan State University. Dr. Caputo added that consumers will also pay extra for things like environmental benefits, farmer benefits, or even their own personal benefit. However, most people are not informed enough about GE and Dr. Caputo stated that this lack of information causes risk avoidance for consumers.
