University of Nebraska students helping improve the future of Rural America

A group of University of Nebraska students are spending the summer in 17 small towns, the focus: improve the future of rural America.

“The program pairs students with community leaders to work on projects such as economic development, entrepreneurship, and the real benefit to the communities is not only are they getting the students perspective, but they’re tremendous effort in accomplishing their projects,” UNL’s Director of Leadership Engagement Helen Fagan said.

In eight years, the program has had 90 students go into 53 communities.
