Vote Coming for Growing Climate Solutions Act

The Senate Ag Committee will vote tomorrow on a sweeping climate bill that will set the groundwork for a carbon market. Senator Debbie Stabenow has reintroduced the Growing Climate Solutions Act with bipartisan support from Indiana Republican Mike Braun and 34 cosponsors. She says the bill delivers the technical assistance that farmers have been asking for.

The bill would also create a nationwide database of vetted experts for farmers to work with. Companion legislation has also been introduced in the House, alongside 5 Republican ag climate bills that ranking member Glenn Thompson presented as an alternative to the Growing Climate Solutions Act.

Senator Stabenow says she’s confident the majority leader will bring the bill to the floor. After it moves out of committee, it could be considered as a stand- alone or as part of the infrastructure package.
