Organic soybean market appears to have ‘a mind of its own’

Rabid price increases and imports caused one ag economist to say the organic soybean market seems to have a mind of its own.

Ryan Koory with Mercaris says prices are nearly double that of futures prices, ranging from $22-29 a bushel. Additionally, organic meal quotes are around $1,300 per short ton, which is double the import price we say from India two months ago.

Koory says organic meal imports are up 73 percent while domestic supplies are up 16 percent over last year.
