A bill that would improve precision ag has cleared a legislative hurdle.
The “Internet of Things” bill would encourage the National Science Foundation to support research including advanced sensing systems for rural and agricultural areas. It would require technology assessment of precision ag tools a year and a half after passage.
The measure has passed the Senate Commerce Committee and awaits action in the ag committee. It was introduced by Senators Deb Fischer of Nebraska and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota.
