Coast Guard investigating if container ship caused oil spill

The container ship backlog at west coast ports could be having an unintended consequence on the environment.

The Associated Press reports the Coast Guarded boarded a container ship that may have caused a pipeline to rupture. Video on social media shows think, black oil washing ashore in Huntington Beach.

It is the worst oil spill in California in three decades.

The Coast Guard says that a ship from Germany may have ruptured the line with its anchor near the Port of Oakland. The company says that it played no part in the oil spill, but says that it is fully cooperating with the Coast Guard.
