A large amount of pig deaths in Mexico is not due to African swine fever. More than 200 hogs at a slaughterhouse were culled to prevent further spread just in case.
Late last week, officials determined the deaths were due to bacteria. Results also showed a type of pneumonia in the herd.
The deaths began around Christmas and all infected animals were buried in a pit to prevent contamination in the food supply chain.
