Patrick Gottsch was a visionary and passionate advocate for rural America, dedicating his life to ensuring its voices and values were heard nationwide. Born and raised in Elkhorn, Nebraska, he carried the lessons of hard work and community from his family’s farm into a groundbreaking career. After working in commodities and satellite technology, he revolutionized rural media by founding RFD-TV in 2000, creating the first 24-hour network devoted to rural programming.

His leadership expanded Rural Media Group to include Rural Radio SiriusXM Channel 147 and the FarmHER + RanchHER brands, strengthening the connection between rural communities and the world. Patrick’s legacy lives on through the millions of homes his vision has reached and through the continued leadership of his daughters, Raquel and Gatsby. A devoted husband, father, and proud Nebraskan, Patrick’s passion, dedication, and unwavering belief in the power of rural America will continue to inspire generations to come. He passed away on May 18, 2024, at the age of 70, leaving behind a lasting impact on the industry and the people he so deeply cared about.

Today in Wyoming, Rural Media Group’s late founder, Patrick Gottsch, will be inducted into the Cheyenne Frontier Days Hall of Fame! The rodeo’s CEO, Tom Hirsing, joined us to share why Patrick is so deserving of this honor.
