Additional conservation steps from the Biden Administration for the Colorado River

Just days after the Colorado River Basin states came to an agreement on how to conserve water resources, the Biden Administration is announcing additional steps to protect the waterway.

Funded by the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bureau of Reclamation is finalizing eight new agreements that will ultimately save up to 393,000 acre feet of water in Lake Mead through 2025. The agreement will help finance conservation and boost reservoir storage volumes.

The Colorado River supplies nearly six million farmland acres with water, but has been facing a historic drought.
