USDA will begin taking samples of retail beef in several states to test for signs of High Path Avian Flu. It comes as officials strive to better understand the virus’ transmission from birds to cattle.
The testing will occur in states where cases of the virus have been confirmed. Additionally, cooking tests will be conducted to assess the effectiveness of heat in neutralizing the virus.
Despite these measures, officials express confidence in the safety of the U.S. meat supply.
