The 2022 National FFA Convention and Expo has come and gone but we are still highlighting all the amazing students that attended.
One of the events at the expo was the student showcase.

Meet Ft. White Middle FFA member Cyler Robinson.

Robinson (14) is from Columbia County, Florida, and is an 8th-grade student at Fort White Middle School. This is his third year as a Fort White Middle School FFA Chapter member. He is working towards being a third-generation small independent farmer and has been working closely with his great-grandfather on his small farm that he has owned for over 50 years. Doing everything from tractor maintenance, fencing, minor plumbing, and electrical systems, and even pasture assessment and management.

During this year’s showcase, he took home the championship in the Agriscience Division 1 category: Power Structure and Technical Systems.

He has been working towards a better understanding of the benefits and limitations of the currently available hydroponic systems, with high hopes of assisting in finding ways to increase their efficiency and effectiveness.
The end goal is to be able to help feed the 10.5 million people that are predicted to inhabit our world in the year 2050.

This amazing accomplishment was something Robinson had never envisioned: “I worked very hard to find answers to my research question and never thought actually about it being a competition. My focus was on completing my research and how I could use the data from it to apply to the process of increasing food production for our future population”.

When asked about his favorite part about FFA:

“FFA means having people around me that are willing and able to support me in learning about our agricultural system as it sits now. Working with my hands, brain, and heart towards increasing the agricultural abilities of the future generations, making the world food supply a more stable situation.”
