Lawmakers could be called back to Washington for debt ceiling vote

The clock is ticking for an agreement over the debt ceiling.

As lawmakers start heading back to their home districts, if an agreement is reached between the President and House Speaker McCarthy, lawmakers will get a 24-hour notice to return to Washington. McCarthy’s rule says they will get 72 hours to read the bill before voting.

Ag lawmakers are eager to get a deal in place because work on Farm Bill appropriations have stalled without a debt plan in place.
