WASHINGTON, D.C. (RFD News) — Producers are getting some help with acreage reporting through a new system USDA rolled out this year.
USDA Undersecretary Richard Fordyce says the program was successfully tested in 12 counties before expanding nationwide.
“It was an overwhelming success in those 12 counties. The pilot was an ability for us to roll it out there, get feedback, and also honestly, we say try to break it. We tried to break the system and found some vulnerabilities early on in the pilot. Those were immediately fixed. We continued to operate the pilot in those 12 counties and then we rolled it out to the entire country.”
Fordyce says the modernized acreage reporting platform will be available for fall-seeded crops.
