Turkey producers expecting higher profits heading into the holiday season

Turkey producers expect higher profits as a decline in stocks stabilizes a supply and demand imbalance. According to a USDA report, August production fell 3 percent to 50 million pounds, while stocks dropped to 560 million pounds - 7 percent below 2018 levels.

Analysts expect prices to strengthen heading into the holiday season, with whole hen prices averaging 93 cents per pound - up 14 percent.
