As ag production increases, so does the need to ensure a stable farm workforce. To help fill the void, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is partnering with public schools to introduce students to industry careers.
Tiffany Heng-Moss, the dean of UNL’s College of Ag Sciences and Natural Resources, speaks with RFD-TV’s own Janet Adkison on their partnership, and what is next for the program.
According to Heng-Moss, “This program incorporates concepts around food, energy, water, and societal systems into the math and science curriculum for 9th and 10th grade students attending Lincoln Northeast High School. For 11th and 12th graders, we’ve designed early college and career pathway programs that are focused on the continuum of learners that these students will be able to leverage... we’ve also thought about those students that will enter the workforce after graduating from high school and how we can position them to have credentials that will make them more competitive in the job market.”
