Perdue Farms is providing meals to Kentucky residents impacted by the deadly tornadoes.
It is donating $150,000 dollars and 160,000 servings of chicken through United Way and Feeding America. The president of United Way says that this will mean so much to those who lost everything.
The Kentucky Farm Bureau and Department of Agriculture have also set up relief funds and resource websites.
Ag Secretary Vilsack announced assistance for communities in Kentucky and five other states. He says that crops that do not have insurance available might qualify for “non-insured crop disaster assistance.”
The Emergency Assistance for Livestock Program reimburses producers for a portion of livestock killed or injured by a natural disaster. Also, the Natural Resources Conservation Service can help with immediate needs and long-term support.
