Avian influenza is potential threat for Sanderson Farms

The current uptick of avian influenza cases is posing a serious threat to the country’s third-biggest chicken producer, Sanderson Farms.

China and Mexico say that they will temporarily pan products from any state where H5N1 is present in a commercial flock.

The company sold almost $230 million dollars worth of chicken products to Mexico last year and more than $121 million dollars to China.

So far, there has not been a detection in a state where Sanderson Farms operates.
