Governor of Montana Gives Thumbs Down to President Biden’s 30x30 Plan

The governor of Montana has declined to help gather information for President Biden’s 30 by 30 initiative.

The governor cited four reasons why the state will not participate, including the absence of authority for either the Interior Department or the President to implement it. He says the initiative would impose significant harm to the state including property values and land restrictions. He also cited the lack of public notice for federal action and no annual funding for these efforts.

The 30 by 30 initiative aims to conserve 30% of America’s lands and water by 2030.
