The Senate Agriculture Committee is currently in a long-awaited hearing on a bill to mandate more negotiated trade in the cattle markets.
Senator Chuck Grassley says he thinks it has enough support to pass the full chamber.
“Yesterday, we added another senator as a co-sponsor, meaning that we now have half of the committee co sponsoring the bill, including members on both sides of the aisle. Lawmakers have begun to realize that they have a sustainable affordable meat supply in our country. We need to restore transparency.”
The House AG committee is holding its hearing on animal markets later this week, where CEOs of Cargill, Tyson Foods, JBS, and National Beef Packing will testify.
