The Biden administration announced $670 million dollars in food aid for countries in need. Most of that will come from the Commodity Credit Corporation to cover transportation costs.
Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack authorized the rest to come from the Bill Emerson Trust. It is the first time in eight years the government has dipped into that humanitarian fund.
Vilsack says that American farmers are uniquely positioned to feed people around the world who are impacted by the war in Ukraine.
