Mixed Signals: impossible to know where China’s hog industry stands

It is mixed signals from China when it comes to the hog industry.

The question is just how well the country has been able to control African Swine Fever, and livestock economist Steve Meyer says it is impossible to know for sure.

He says prices have been really low for the last six months, which leads him to believe China has too many pigs, but that scenario seems unlikely as the disease swept through the nation and they should still be rebuilding.

Meyer says it is unlikely China will get back into the international market while its domestic pork prices are so low.
