The DOJ has launched a probe into the high prices of eggs

The U.S. government has launched a probe into sky-high egg prices. The Department of Justice says that Cal-Maine Foods is cooperating with the investigation.

Cal-Maine Foods is the United States’ largest egg producer, supplying nearly 20% of the country’s eggs.

The company says that it sales nearly doubled to more than $1.4 billion in its fiscal third quarter, which ended March 1st. Egg prices averaged $4.06 during that period.
