The U.S. rice industry is requesting millions from USDA in emergency assistance

The U.S. rice industry is calling for emergency help from the government.

USA Rice Federation is asking for $400 million to help farmers avoid devastating losses. They say higher input costs, alleged price manipulation by India, and drought in California are to blame.

A Texas A&M study shows a $442 per acre loss in net cash farm income between 2021 and 2022 with as many as two-thirds expected to post a loss this year.
