The winter wheat crop is progressing nicely across the Southern Plains.
USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey says on average, half the crop in that area is rated good to excellent.
“Certainly some improvements from what we saw when the crop went into dormancy last autumn, especially in Kansas, which if you recall back in late November, under a third of the crop, 32%, was rated good to excellent. To see that jump now to 53% is certainly encouraging as moisture has improved across much of the state.”
Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas have been releasing their own state condition reports. National Crop Progress reports begin in April.
