In the first Senate Ag hearing in more than a month, USDA’s Rural Development Undersecretary faced numerous complaints by ag state senators about complicated grant applications, office staffing, and broadband grants.
When it comes to community family grants and their impact on rural hospitals, Undersecretary Xochitl Torres-Small says those grants depend on Congress’ definition of rural and often have population limits with exceptions if an area is considered rural in character.
