Prices at retail groceries stores increased again in May, making them up almost 5 percent year-over-year, according to the USDA.
The Department of Agriculture’s June Food Price Report showed retail grocery stores up for 0.8 percent in May.
Meats, particularly beef, saw some of the highest spikes from April to May. Beef and veal prices were 10.9 percent. Pork prices also jumped almost 3 percent and meats as a whole were up about 6 percent.
Fruit and vegetable prices rose 0.7 percent.
The USDA expects prices to rise another 2.5 to 3.5 percent for the rest of 2020. You can see the full report here.
