NCBA wants beef to have a balanced voice in new dietary guidelines

The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee released their scientific report on July 15th and now the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association urges their membership to take action. The public comment period is open through August 13th.

NCBA executive director for government affairs, Danielle Beck says that they are focused on protecting the scientific credibility of the guidelines, but there are some recommendations, which could use improvement. She says that more than 13 hundred comments flooded in during the first week alone, mostly from vegan activists attacking the dairy industry.

“It’s really critical that there’s balance and there’s a strong voice speaking up on beef’s behalf. The administration cares about what our producers and membership have to say; we know American families love beef. We’re calling on our membership to really serve as that strong voice and create a balance of mindsets and perspectives there.”
