FCC Chairman Ajit Pai on bridging the digital divide

After four years of working to bridge the digital divide, Chairman of the FCC Ajit Pai will be stepping down tomorrow.

During his term he directed billions of dollars to build broadband in rural areas.

He spoke with RFD-TV’s Janet Adkison on his efforts at the FCC, on rural residents having access to high speed internet, and what the future holds for rural residents.

“I’ve been talking about the digital divide since literally my first day in office, and, I think, now... every American appreciates how important broadband is for tele-work, for telehealth, for precision agriculture, remote learning, and I think it’s created a sense of urgency here in Washington and everywhere in the country-- to close that digital divide once and for all,” Pai states.

He also notes that the digital divide is the challenge of our times.
