Senator Grassley has expressed disappointment in the lack of funding for the biofuels sector.
He says that he made sure the COVID relief bill, passed in December, included specific language allowing the ag department to help biofuel producers. However, that money has been held up due to the stalled CFAP program.
According to the Senator, “It should be noted that money from the December virus relief bill, which totaled $13 billion dollars has not yet been spent. This calls into question whether Congress should have provided billions more to the USDA until we see how the December money has been spent and whether there’s still a need.”
Grassley, along with Sen. Amy Klobuchar sent a letter to Ag Secretary Vilsack urging him to consider the renewable fuels sector and to send out relief quickly.
