National Pork Board: 2021 looks bright for the pork industry

The National Pork Board is looking ahead to 2021 with a positive mindset.

We told you last week that pork producer delegates outlined budgets and strategy during their recent virtual meeting, and selected new board member nominees. The Board president says that the future looks bright, despite the pandemic causing one of the darkest times in history.

He says that a new initiative is driving value back to producers.

According to David Newman, “We have an abundant supply of high-value, high-quality pigs to supply to people all over the world. So, we’re sitting in a very optimistic position right now about how we move forward into the next year... So, I think we have much brighter days ahead... Our new ‘Real Pork’ initiative is a great example of that, where we’re working on things that involve sustainability, multicultural marketing, the domestic demand of pork consumer confidence, and then the work we’re doing in the international markets. All of this is intended to drive value back to producers, and I’m really proud of the work that we’re doing there.”

He encourages all producers to take an active role at the local, state, and national levels.
