Farmer accuses Scotland of mass culling to reduce GHG emissions

A prominent Scottish farmer accuses the government of proposing a mass cull of cattle to help the beef sector reduce emissions.

The information comes from a farmer who led a climate group last year who says that the government was only interested in cutting meat and dairy out of diets to reduce emissions.

He said that his group designed a plan for the beef sector that was ready to go, but it was showdown in favor of culling 300,000 cattle.

The president of Scotland’s Farmers Union says that if true, the decision would have lacked vision and been disastrous.

The government says that the claims are without foundation.
