A red piranha was found in a lake at Louisiana State University.
Fishery agents are looking in university lakes and surrounding areas to see if there are more. Having or selling piranhas in Louisiana is illegal and agents believe the one found was most likely a pet.
They are telling people to be cautious and if you catch one, do not return it to the water. Instead, contact your local aquatic invasive species agency.
