A 5-year-old Georgia boy woke up to flames in his bedroom and instead of panicking, his quick thinking saved his entire family.
Noah Woods will be named as an honorary firefighter and will receive a lifesavers award for his actions on Friday.
Noah was one of eight family members asleep in their Georgia home on Sunday when he awoke to smoke and flames in his bedroom that he shares with his 2-year-old sister.
Noah, acting quickly, grabbed his sister and crawled out of the window to safety.
Instead of stopping there, Noah ran back inside where he pulled his family dog to safety before running to his uncle, who lives next door for help. Together the two alerted the rest of the family and everyone made it out safely.
“We’ve seen children alert their families before,” Bartow County Fire Department Chief Dwayne Jamison told CNN. “But for a 5-year-old to be alert enough to do this ... that’s pretty extraordinary.”
Because of the devastation to the family home, they have started a GoFundMe
asking for the community’s help to get back on their feet.
