55 lawmakers are pushing for more plant-based options in federal food service facilities

The push for more plant-based options is getting the backing of more than 50 Washington lawmakers.

55 members of Congress have penned a letter to President Biden, urging him to expand plant-based offerings in federal food service facilities. The letter claims it would empower federal employees and consumers to make healthier choices.

The move comes after a tough year for several alternative meat companies. Just recently, Beyond Meat said its fourth quarter profits took an 8 percent hit year-over-year, with net losses of more than $330 million.
