$653 million set to benefit U.S. port infrastructure

The federal government will spend more than $650 million dollars on inland port projects.

The announcement is part of the Biden administration’s effort to invest in infrastructure and will be divided among 41 ports. More than $50 million will go toward a project in Long Beach to build tracks and roads and upgrade utilities to reduce pollution.

The port was a major talking point in 2021 when scores of ships were left waiting for a chance to unload.
Wait times at Long Beach and other ports have since been cut by approximately 90 percent.
