A court has vacated reversals of small refinery exemptions

A Washington DC court has tossed out the reversal of several EPA exemptions surrounding the Renewable Fuel Standard and small refinery exemptions.

In early 2022, the Agency revoked more than 30 of those allowed by the Trump Administration. Nearly 70 more were announced later in the year, but the agency allowed most refineries an alternate way to comply. Groups like the Renewable Fuels Association are speaking out against the move, saying the EPA’s original decision was based on sound economic analysis.
