Bremo Bluff, Va. (Real Virginia) — When a bourbon barrel reaches the end of its first job, most people assume its work is done.
However, one Virginia partnership is proving there’s still plenty of value left inside.
Edgewood Apiaries & Farm and Tarnished Truth Distilling Co. have teamed up to produce whiskey barrel-aged honey by filling used bourbon barrels with raw Virginia honey.
Once the honey is bottled, the barrels return to the distillery to help produce bourbon again, giving a single barrel two distinct uses before its work is finished.
