A new bill looks to overhaul the interstate trucking supply chain

A bipartisan bill was introduced in Congress that aims to get ag products moving freely again across the United States.

It is called the Safer Highways and Increased Performance for Interstate Trucking Act, also known as “SHIP IT.” The bill was filed by Representatives Dusty Johnson from South Dakota and Jim Costa from California. The legislation hopes to increase safety and shipping capacities for truckers, provide recruitment and retention incentives for drivers, and offer flexibility during emergencies.

Groups like the Shippers Coalition call this a critical step to building a stronger transportation network.
