A key Senator says farmers and ranchers will likely have to wait for a new farm bill.
Senate Minority Whip John Thune tells Agri-Pulse that passing another extension of the 2018 Farm Bill would give lawmakers in the next session a fresh start. He says right now, partisan gridlock is getting in the way of finishing a new farm bill before the September 30th deadline.
While many lawmakers are still hoping a new bill can get passed this year, Thune joins several colleagues in saying another extension is likely the only path forward.
