Avoiding A Shutdown: Lawmakers are keeping essential ag programs up and running

The continuing resolution must be passed by Friday to avoid a partial shutdown of essential departments including the USDA, FDA, and the U.S. Dept. of Transportation.

Another government shutdown will be avoided, for now.

Congressional leaders reached an agreement over the long weekend on a new continuing resolution that would keep some parts of the government up and running through March 1st and the rest through March 8th. The Senate is set to take its first action on the Stop Gap Bill today.

The continuing resolution must be passed by Friday to avoid a partial shutdown of essential departments including the USDA, FDA, and the Transportation Department.
