NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) In anticipation of the 2017 ProRodeo Hall of Fame induction ceremony on August 5th, the ProRodeo Hall of Fame and Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) opened a historical exhibit last Friday. This is the first time in history that barrel racers from the WRPA will be inducted into the HOF.
The exhibit is housed in the 101 Gallery of the ProRodeo Hall of Fame, and highlights the history of the WPRA from when 38 women met in a hotel room in San Angelo, Texas, in 1948 to start the association.
The “History of the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association” exhibit will remain open until September.
As announced on March 28, the two individuals and one equine partner which will be honored in the inaugural WPRA Hall of Fame class include Wanda Harper Bush, Charmayne James and a joint PRCA/WPRA equine inductee, Star Plaudit, or “Red.”
Watch the video to hear James talk about her history with her Hall of Fame horse, “Scamper,” and what it means to join him in the ranks of rodeo legends.
