The EPA is set to declare two PFAS chemicals as hazardous.
The chemicals are two of the most widely used and will be given the designation under the Superfund law. Producers have already felt the effects of these chemicals through groundwater contamination, but DTN reports the new declaration will do little to help those producers, noting the National Resource Conservation Service does not have any experts on PFAS contamination.
The EPA is expected to publish the recommendation in the coming weeks, and then water treatment facilities could become more liable for damages to farms contaminated by PFAS.
